Can Your Next Employee Be Found Through An Executive Search And Selection Process?

People often turn to a headhunting firm when they have had trouble recruiting for a certain position. They may have had a low response to adverts, or discovered that all the CVs that have been sent in are from people who are under qualified or inappropriate for the role. This can be very frustrating, particularly as it is very expensive to place recruitment adverts in the local and national press. In some cases, the fee charged by an executive search agency may be less than running an expensive recruitment advert three weeks running, and a lot more productive.

Cover Letter: What Makes A Great Example?

When you are just applying for a position in a company, the first thing you do is submit your resume. In this process, your goal is to get hired right? This is where you"re wrong. Your first goal should be getting as far as the job interview. Companies tend to have hundreds of applicants in one position and the employers or the human resources department will not want to interview these hundreds of applicants. Therefore, they just sort through the resumes and pick out the best people who are qualified to do the job. And, even though most of the applicants are equally qualified for the job, only a select few are noticed and called for the final interview.

Sales Roles Explained

Sales professionals may be required to work in the UK and overseas, in sectors such as FMCG, IT, media, services and consumer durables. As the commercial success of a company depends on how successful its sales team are, those in sales jobs are required to be highly personable, honest and driven individuals.

A typical day in sales may involve arranging meetings, researching markets, going to trade shows, negotiating contracts, presenting for new sales, maintaining a good working relationship with clients or advising on promotions. Most sales jobs are target based, with commission allocated on an individual"s or team"s performance.

Starting salaries are generally upwards of £17,000, with salaries at senior level reaching up to figures of £100,000. Working hours are usually long, due to the high pressured nature of the job and as such, require people who enjoy thriving on adrenalin. Sales professionals must look tidy at all times and most are required to wear a suit when liaising with clients. The work is fast-paced but highly rewarding where one can see quick results and deal with different people on a daily basis.

Training is normally performed in house, shadowing other sales executives or completing the Institute of Sales and Marketing Management (ISMM) qualifications.

Career progression prospects are good, with many successful people moving into senior or managerial positions within a couple of years. Additionally, some sales professionals move into the fields of PR and Advertising to gain more industry experience and diversify their skills base.
